It is with great sadness that we share the passing of a true original and legend; David Knight, our Creative Consultant at Production Paradise for over 20 amazing years.
David was part of the Production Paradise journey since the very beginning, working as our British Creative Consultant and building strong, lasting relationships with clients across the industry. His presence, both within the team and with those he worked with, was truly unique.
Before joining Production Paradise, David worked at Select Magazine, bringing with him a deep understanding of the creative world, along with a sharp eye and a strong point of view that stayed with him throughout his career.
Originally from the UK, David spent his later years living in a small village in Portugal with his wife, Joana Gil. It was a place that suited him well, a slower pace of life, but never a quieter personality.
David was known for his love of music, especially rock, punk, and synth-pop, with David Bowie probably being his biggest hero. His passion for music was as strong as his passion for the industry, and his unmistakable sarcastic humour made him someone you couldn’t forget. He spoke his mind, stood by his opinions, and brought energy and character into every conversation.

Here is how some of us at Production Paradise remember him:
Catherine Delaloye, Managing Director at Production Paradise:
“David was old school in the best possible way. He would always rather pick up the phone than send an email, and he built genuine, lasting relationships with his clients through that personal approach. He cared deeply about the people he worked with, always wanted to make sure they got the best possible deal, and truly believed in what Production Paradise could do for them. That is a big part of why so many of his clients stayed with us for so many years.”
Andreas von Estorff, Founder of Production Paradise:
“David Knight was, is, and will always be a legend. I admired his fearless way of living and communicating. He was truly authentic, often very funny, and someone you don’t forget.”
Barbara Otero, Spotlight & Showcase Editor
“One of my first tasks at Production Paradise was assisting David with the UK market. This was 20 years ago, and the industry was completely new to me. Having David as a guide and mentor was one of the best learning experiences of my life. It's hard to say how much of who I am now as a professional comes from his knowledge, his humour, and his rock star personality. Even when he messed up (I still remember when he accidentally insulted a client), you couldn’t stay mad at him for long. He never took things too seriously (especially not himself!), and, in the end, you knew he wanted the best for his clients and trusted his team in Barcelona with all his heart. And his heart was huge!”
Juste Montvilaite, Marketing & Communication Manager
David certainly left an impression. He was assertive, daring and also warm. His communication style often made the rest of us in the office raise eyebrows, but then it also worked, leaving us with a smile.
His passing has come as a great shock to all of us.
We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Joana, his family, and all those who knew and worked with him over the years.
David will be greatly missed.
